How We Teach Lower Secondary Math.

Our approach is built on the methods that make Singapore the #1 country in the world for Math (OECD PISA 2022), adapted for small online groups of up to 10. Every student begins with a short skills check, so we teach to their actual gaps rather than a generic scheme. From there we put concepts before procedures, using the Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract (CPA) approach: each idea is introduced with a concrete or visual model before moving to abstract symbols, so your child understands why a method works instead of memorising steps that collapse when a question is worded differently.

Once a concept lands, we build fluency through deliberate, progressively harder practice. Throughout, in line with Cambridge's "Thinking & Working Mathematically", students are pushed to explain, justify and check their working, the exact habits that separate top grades at IGCSE. Because classes are capped at up to 10, the tutor sees every child's working in real time, corrects misconceptions immediately, and stretches quick finishers with extension problems. Progress stays visible too: homework is marked with written feedback, every lesson is recorded, and you receive a written progress report each block.

How can my child excel in Lower Secondary Math?
Consistency beats cramming. The students who do best secure the fundamentals early, practise a little regularly rather than in a panic before tests, and learn to explain their reasoning rather than memorise steps. Our small-group classes are built around exactly this: diagnosing gaps, locking in the basics, and developing genuine understanding well before IGCSE pressure begins.
Is it easy to get good grades in Lower Secondary Math?
It's very achievable for most students. There's no external exam pressure yet and the content is foundational. The real risk isn't difficulty, it's silent gaps: a topic half-understood in Year 7 quietly becomes a barrier in Year 9 and a lost grade at IGCSE. Strong results come from closing those gaps early, which is what this programme is designed to do.
Why does my child struggle even though they revise?

Does Lower Secondary Math really matter if there's no major exam yet?
Yes, arguably more than any later stage. Years 7–9 build the number sense, algebra and reasoning that IGCSE Math (0580) and Additional Math (0606) are built directly on top of. Students who reach IGCSE with these secure find it dramatically easier; those with gaps spend Year 10 playing catch-up.
